Shotcut version 24.08 and up now has the subtitle feature. This means you will be able to add, edit, import and export subtitles in Shotcut.

How To Add Subtitles

The first step is to ensure you have installed or upgrade to the version that has subtitles. Next click on the Subtitles tab, number 1 at the top to open the subtitle panel. See the image below.

Once you can see the subtitle panel, click on the plus sign (number 2) to add a new subtitle track.

Next click on add a subtitle (number 3). You can type your subtitle at location number 4.

You can use the open brackets and close bracket next to the add subtitle + sign to set where the subtitle will start and end.

Tip

Not sure about you but typing in subtitles manually isn’t fun for me. With AI tools, there are faster ways to create subtitles. One good option is to use Gling to add subtitles.
