AI or artificial intelligence is helping make video editing much faster and better.
Anyone who has ever made a video knows it takes a substantial amount of time to edit a video. Just to remove bad takes, bloopers, mistakes, tongue twisters takes time for a video editor to go through and get a rough cut.
What if you have an assistant editor that can do all that before you start touching the clips?
Well, there are now tools that do that and Gling is one of those tools.
In the past, I’ve mentioned Filmora which can remove silence but Gling does it better. The best part is you can use it with your favorite video editor like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Shotcut without being tied into just Filmora.
How to Use Gling
Go to Gling.ai and download the suitable version for your computer. The download isn’t very large. Install it.
The user interface is quite simple as you can see below.
Upload your media file(s) into Gling. It can be video or audio. Select the language.
Click continue and it takes you to the next screen. Here you have options for what you want Gling to do for you. If you are not sure, leave the first 2 options checked, and the last 2 options unchecked as below.
This tells Gling to cut out bad takes and remove silence. Click on “Enhance and Edit”.
What Gling does is to look through your recording and then it can cut out parts the bad takes, silence and etc.
After Gling does the pre-edits, you will see the screen below, with text and the timeline. You can edit your video using text and the video will be cut on the timeline as well. Neat.
You no longer need to go through the entire video to get the parts you want. To help you see which sections that Gling has removed, you can toggle to see those sections or not.
This way you can see if Gling has accidentally removed something that is important.
It also allows you to adjust the pace of the video since you can control how long the pauses should be.
Once you are happy with your rough cut, you can export your video either to mp4 or to an .xml file for further edits in Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve etc.
If your software doesn’t have such option, then you can export to mp4 and edit that in your video editor of choice.
Video Tutorial
If you prefer video, watch the video below where I show this in greater detail.
Gling is freemium at the moment.
You get a free hour to try out all the features and the paid plan is also very reasonable for the time it will save you.
You can get Gling.AI for free here.
Additional Tip
There is another thing you can use Gling for which is to generate subtitles. If you have edited your video elsewhere, you can upload your final cut into Gling for it to generate subtitles.
I hope you like this.
